A Flood of Help and Advice
Manningham residents are reminded to stay alert about the possibility of flash flooding during the warmer months of summer.
The municipality has a history of occasional flash flooding, caused by a sudden downpour of heavy rain and subsequent overland flows.
If flooding occurs, residents are asked to call a 24-hour hotline (9840 9333) and alert Council officers who will visit the site, prioritise and undertake any necessary maintenance, and arrange any follow-up investigation.
If maintenance of Council assets is deemed necessary, these works will be organised by Council officers to be undertaken as soon as possible.
If maintenance of another authority’s assets be determined to be required, Council officers will refer these matters to the appropriate agencies.
Manningham Cr Ron Kitchingman, asked residents to be as detailed as possible when they call Council about a flood problem.
“Council officers are available to assist, but they need to know the precise location, whether the flooding is leading to a hazardous situation and what assets are affected, whether it be a blockage of a road or water flow through private property.”
