Manningham's New Mayor

Manningham

The councillors of Manningham have elected Heide Ward Cr Geoff Gough as Mayor for 2007-08. Cr Gough was selected unopposed at the annual meeting of Manningham Council, held on Tuesday 4 December 2007.

The decision commenced Cr Gough’s second term as Manningham Mayor, having previously served in the position in 2002-03.

Cr Gough was first elected to Manningham Council in 1997, representing a ward which includes the suburbs of Bulleen and Lower Templestowe. He works locally as a teacher with children who suffer from social and behavioural problems, and keenly follows the sports of football and tennis.

Cr Gough is married to Sonia and has two children, Michael and Matthew, and approaches the mayoral role with much enthusiasm.

“I’m honoured to once again be elected mayor of this great municipality. Manningham Council has a full program of work ahead for the next 12 months, headlined by major projects such as Doncaster Hill and Wombat Bend.”

“I will continue my interest in roads, parks, playgrounds, and sporting facilities, and look forward to working closely with residents from across the municipality. It will be a busy time ahead but I’m confident the hard work of Council will ensure that Manningham remains a safe and dynamic community,” he said.

Cr Gough’s election followed a twelve-month mayoral term by Mullum Mullum Ward Cr Ron Kitchingman.
